Tournament Officials Laud Wilford Brimley, Betty White
Bylaws Amended by Board to Revoke Life Insurance Policies
(Albuquerque, NM) – Henderson NCAA Tournament officials expressed their profound sadness and condolences at the passing of American icons and long-time Henderson NCAA Tournament spokespeople Wilford Brimley and Betty White, who passed away since last year’s tournament.
“Lew Alcindor. Michael Jordan. Patrick Ewing. Christian Laettner. Bob “Fuzzball” Stephenson. College basketball luminaries all,” said Tournament CEO and President Matt Henderson. “And now, we add the names Wilford Brimley and Betty White to this enviable list of college hardwood heroes.”
Henderson downplayed recent reports of stress between the tournament and its two most notable spokespeople, saying the revocation of Mr. Brimley’s lifetime endorsement contract in 2019 was “simple financial prudence. Who knew it would go on for so long?” Likewise, the revocation of Betty White’s Lifetime Achievement Award was “merely a technicality. We didn’t realize at the time that she was still alive.”
Tournament officials, embroiled in litigation with the estates of both icons, also denied allegations that they have refused to honor the terms of prior sponsorship agreements with Mr. Brimley and Ms. White. “We’ve never heard of them. We will fight these frivolous lawsuits and defend our good name. These scurrilous attacks will not stand,” said Vice President of Marketing, Promotions and Overseas Gaming Anthony “K” Lisi.
Tournament officials are expected to announce their next spokesperson in the near future. Any final announcement is contingent upon successful completion of a medical examination, physical, and verified proof of life.
